Conclusion:
This experiment demonstrated the process of osmosis, because the egg had a selectively permeable membrane, which allowed water to pass through to whichever side of the membrane had a lower concentration of water. Although my second test didn’t work the way I expected it to, this experiment demonstrated osmosis, when the red water solution let some water pass through to the other side of the egg shell (selectively permeable membrane). My first hypothesis was completely supported by my results. My second hypothesis is mainly supported by my results, but because the volume of liquid increased in the beaker, it kind of contradicts my results about the slight increase in mass. If I were to do this experiment again, I think I would change my second independent variable, to see if my results improve and become more clear, and to actually see if they support my hypothesis or not. Overall, it was a good, mostly-successful experiment, which helped me to better understand osmosis.
